Evald Kostrzewski died Monday, July 14, 2003, at the Kittson Memorial Nursing Center in Hallock at the age of 80.

Evald was born October 3, 1922 in Wanger Township, rural Stephen, the son of Theodore and Anna (Budziszewski) Kostrzewski.

He was a lifelong resident of the Florian/Stephen communities.

He married Dolores Kurowski at Assumption Church of Florian June 8, 1948. Together they raised eight children.

He was an active member of Assumption Church of Florian and farmed his entire life. The importance of faith, family and the land was evident to all who knew him. He enjoyed playing cards and spending time with his family. He entered Kittson Memorial Nursing Center in October, 2002.

Survivors include his children: Gary (Diana), Duluth; Allan (Marcia), Verndale; Mary (Lynn) Christianson, Twin Valley; Deborah (Jim) Stengrim, Warren; Carol (Andrew) Riley, Stephen; Randal, Stephen; Janel (Bill) Kresl, Crookston; and Janet (Paul) Nysetvold, Fargo; seventeen grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, two brothers, John (Maggie) Kostrzewski and Arnold Kostrzewski all Stephen and three sisters, Natalie Adolphson, Argyle; Joan (John) Pawlowski, Warren; and Audrey Frazier, Reedsport, Oreg.

He was preceded in death by his wife and parents.

Funeral services were held July 17, 2003 at Assumption Church Florian.

Interment was held in the Assumption Cemetery, Florian.
