Don spent his entire life on the Johnson family farm. After retiring from farming, he worked and drove a bus for the Community Schools of Frankfort. He retired from the school in May 2007.
He graduated from Frankfort High School in 1950, then served in the U.S. Army. Don was a life member of Hope United Methodist Church and a 50-year member of the Clinton Masonic Lodge. He served on the Frankfort School Board, 1970-1982, and was trustee of Union Township, 1962-1970.
He was born April 19, 1932, in Frankfort to Clarence Peter and Merle B. Isgrigg Johnson. He married Janet L. Spear on March 20, 1960, and she survives.
Also surviving are one son, David (Elaine) Johnson of rural Frankfort; one daughter, Mrs. Ty (Jayne) Pierce of Frankfort; one grandson, Adam Johnson, at home; and three granddaughters, Emily Johnson, Lauren Pierce and Hannah Pierce, all at home.
He was preceded in death by three brothers and one grandson, Nick Pierce in 1989.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Goodwin Funeral Home. Friends may visit 4-8 p.m. Monday. Entombment will be in Green Lawn Mausoleum.
