Daughter of Joseph Berry Wade (1815-1877) and Sarah Medely Odell Wade (1822-1908) her parents lived in Auraria, Lumpkin Co., Ga. most of her childhood and no clue why she was born in Alabama. Her father was a goldminer during the first Gold Rush in the United States in Auraria. On 3 Feb 1862 during the Civil War she married Joseph Henry Bell, an old friend of the Wade family and for the remainder of the war she lived in the Auraria Hotel which now (2008) sits in ruins in Auraria, Ga. Emily and Joseph Bell were the parents of Robert E. Lee Bell born: 5 AUG 1864 in the old hotel in Auraria, Lumpkin Co., Ga. and died: 12 MAY 1946 in Upshur Co., Texas and he is buried at Grice Cemetery in Upshur Co. with other members of her family. She is buried next to her husband in Hopewell Cemetery and her grave is newly marked with a marker provided by great-great nephews Ronald Ellis Wade and James Whitfield Wade in 2010.
