Miss Alene M. Gering, 74, formerly of 778 Eastern Parkway, died Friday [December 5, 1980] at Methodist Evangelical Hospital. She was retired from Colgate-Palmolive Co. and a member of Our Mother of Sorrows Catholic Church. Survivors include a sister, Mrs. Ted Rehm, and a brother, Jerome Gering. The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Embry-Bosse Funeral Home, 2723 Preston Highway, with burial in St. Edward Cemetery in Jeffersontown. Visitation at the funeral home will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday and from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday. The family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to the American Cancer Society.
