Funeral services for Mrs. Alice Pappan, 73, who died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. C.A. "Dal" Howland, north of Washunga, Tuesday afternoon, March 24, were held at 3 o'clock Thursday afternoon at the Washunga school house. The Rev. Ernest McCool, pastor of the Kaw City Church of God, officiated. Burial was in the Washunga cemetery. Mrs. Pappan, familiarly known as "Aunt Alice" was born Aug. 4, 1862 at Topeka, Kans. Married to Steven Pappan in 1878 at Pawhuska by the late Major Miles, U.S. Indian Agent. She had been in ill health for the past two years. She was a member of the Kaw City Christian church. Survivors: three daughters, Mrs. Rosa Suskey, Ponca City; Mrs. Debbie Penisten, of Newkirk; a sister, Mrs. Fanny Acton, this vicinity, and two brothers, Charles and Jim Norbury. Fifteen grandchildren and twenty-two great-grandchildren survive. Pallbearers were Clark Cross, Joe Cross, J.P. Willis, Harry Wolfenbarger, Charlie Parker and Edgar Bowker.
