He was a member of New Bethel Church Of The Brethren. He served in the Army during Vietnam War.
In addition to his mother he is survived by his wife Sue Walden Adkins of the residence; two sons, Tim Adkins of Chatham and Brian Adkins of Chesapeake; one daughter, Kimberly Adkins of Surry, VA; one brother, Jessie P. Adkins of Gretna; one sister, Joyce Adkins of Chatham; one niece, Pam Adkins of Portland, Ore. and one nephew, Jason Adkins of Gretna. He was predeceased by one brother, Neal Adkins.
Funeral services was conducted at Scott Funeral Home Chapel on June 15, 2008 with Mr. Curtis English, Rev. Leo Johnson officiating. Burial at New Bethel Church of The Brethren Cemetery.
