Sherilyn C. Stephens of Lubbock departed this life on June 12, 2008, at the age of 57 years. She was born to Minor P. and Genet Byrd Cooper on February 3, 1951 in Lubbock. Sherilyn attended Monterey High School and graduated in 1969. She continued her education at Texas Tech University and received her degree in Secondary Education in 1973. Sherilyn married Mark Stephens on June 28, 1975 in Lubbock. Sherilyn and Mark owned and operated Good News Book Store for 19 years and she later worked for G. Boren Services as an Office Manager before becoming ill. She was a member of Indiana Avenue Baptist Church and she also enjoyed attending Overton Park Fellowship.

Those left to cherish her memory are her husband, Mark Stephens; mother, Genet Cooper; one son, Matthew Stephens of Lubbock; one daughter, Julianne Stephens of Lubbock; and twin sister, Marilyn Arland of Lubbock.

She is preceded in death by her father and her grandparents.

Celebration of Life Services will be held 10 a.m. Monday, June 16, 2008 at Indiana Avenue Baptist Church of Lubbock with Pastor Jeff McCreight officiating. Interment will follow at the City of Lubbock Cemetery.
