Aley/Allie Jane Sikes was a daughter of James H. Sikes (1803-1884) and his wife Lucinda Beasley (1807-1884). I imagine her name was originally Alice Elizabeth Jane. She had two sisters, Anna Sikes (c. 1842-1889, Mrs. Jacob A. Thomas) and Philadelphia Kezia "Delphia" Sikes (c. 1846-1919, Mrs. J. W. Austin) and one brother, John Wilson Sikes (1847-1911).

Allie married James Gassaway King (1838-1904) on 10 Feb. 1861. He was a son of Rev. Harmon Daniel King (1805-1906) and his first wife Mary V. Starnes (1814-1865). James served as a Confederate soldier in Co. A, 48th NC Regiment, Confederate States Army. From the "NC Argus," Wadesborough, NC, 28 Feb. 1861: "-Near Monroe, on the 10th inst., by the same (Rev. A. L. Stough), Mr. James KING to Miss Elizabeth SIKES, all of Union, N.C."

Allie and James had six children, but I only have names for five of them: John H. King (1862-1912, m. Ida Harkey), Benjamin Franklin King (1866-1938, m. 1st Flora Catherine Gray, 2nd Martha Belle Godfrey), James Martin King (1867-1946, m. Heallon Mercia Beachum), Apsia L. King (c.1869) and Alice J. King (1871-1940, Mrs. R. Stewart Spittle).
