She married James Hawkins August 13, 1823. To them were born 13 children. The union was broken by the death of her husband February 9, 1881.
After waiting for 15 1/2 years, her appointed time, she was permitted to cross over that Mystic River into that better land which God has in reserve for his people.
Dying at Emporia, Kansas, July 3, 1896, aged 89 years and 26 days and buried at Virgil, Kansas, July 4, 1896. Thus ends a long and eventful life of devotion to her God, her home and her children of which she lived to see the fourth generation. "Blessed are the dead which die in the Lord from henceforth, Yea, saith the Spirit, that they may rest from their labors and their works do follow them."
