LOY JENSEN DIES AT WEISER
December 31, 1962
Loy Maughan Jensen, 45, died December 31 at a Weiser hospital. He had undergone an operation for tumor of the brain in July and for a time he seemed to be recovering. he became much worse just before Christmas.
He was born Sept. 30, 1917 to Wilford and George Maughan Jensen. His mother preceeded him in death in 1959.
HE ATTENDED local schools and Ricks College. He served in Norway on an LDS mission. Because of World War II he was called back to the United States where he finished his mission in the Central States.
After his marriage to Mona Keppner, February 9, 1942 in the Logan LDS Temple, they went to California where he was employed at Lockheed. Later they returned to Hibbard where he farmed and finished his schooling at Ricks. He graduated from USU at Logan, and just before completion of his Masters Degree he became ill and returned to Rexburg. He was District Conservationist with the Soil Conservation Service and served as Bishop of the Driggs First Ward while living there. He has been active in various organizations in the church and enjoyed playing the organ and piano church services. He moved with his family to Weiser, Sept. 1, 1961 where he continued to work with the SCS.
HE IS survived by his wife, Mona and six children: Julia Kate and Kim, who are students are Ricks College; Layne, Kerry, Mala and Kathy of Weiser. His father and stepmother and the following brothers and sisters also survive: Mrs. Lorin (Mildred) Johnson, Burton; Mrs. Cornelious (Juliet) Maathius, Salt Lake City, Utah; Heber Maughan Jensen, Burton; Quincy Maughan Jensen, Idaho; Grey Maughan Jensen, Pocatello; Stanley Maughan Jensen, Pacifica, California and Zola Jensen, Brigham City, Utah. Besides his mother a brother and sister preceeded him in death.
FUNERAL services were held at Weiser, Wednesday morning at 10 a.m. and will also be held Friday afternoon in the Rexhurg (Burton) 7th Ward Chapel at 2 p.m. with Bishop Philip Hathaway of the Driggs Ward conducting.
