Bloomfield — Joda Morris, 82, was found dead Thursday at his home. He had been in ill health for some time.
Born Aug. 31, 1889 near Bloomfield, Mr. Morris had been a life-long resident of Stoddard County. He was a retired farmer and a member of the West Pleasant Valley Church. Mr. Morris was a veteran of World War I and the first man to leave Stoddard County for the war. On Jan. 19, 1920 he married Nellie Tinnon and she died on April 11, 1970.
Surviving are a step daughter, Mrs. Hazel Graves of Colorado Springs, Colo., two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Mr. Morris' funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in the Chiles-Cooper Funeral Chapel. The Rev. Charles Hanna will officiate and burial will be in the West Pleasant Valley Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 6 tonight at the funeral home.
