Funeral services for Opal E. Smith, 89, of Wagoner were held Friday October 11, at the Mallett Funeral Home Chapel in Wagoner, with the Rev. Charles Duvall officiating. Interment followed in the Lost City Cemetery, Lost City, Oklahoma. Mrs. Smith died Wednesday October 11, 2000 at the Tulsa Specialty Hospital.
She was born March 13, 1911 in Yellville, Arkansas the daughter of John and Floda (Charles) Steelmon. Her family moved to Oklahoma when she was eight years old and she lived most of her life in Cherokee county.
She is survived by three daughters; Kathleen Cole and her husband, Eli of Wagoner, Virginia Marrs and her husband Sam, and Linda Sue butler, all of Hulbert; a sister, Zelma Byrd of Wagoner, 15 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two sons, Grover Smith and Loyd Smith; a daughter, Imogene Norman, a grandson, Randy Marrs; three brothers and two sisters.
Pallbearers were David Eli Cole, Russell Marrs, Michael Marrs, Sammy Marrs, Joe Butler and Chris Butler. Elmer Dotson was an honorary pallbearer. Arrangements were by Mallett Funeral Home of Wagoner.
