William A. Addis, 79, of Galesburg died at 12:20 p.m. Monday, June 2, 2008, at his home.

He was born February 6, 1929 in Galesburg, the son of Cecil Clinton Addis and Shelley Marie Clark Addis. He married Patricia Welch on October 15, 1949 in Galesburg. She survives.

Also surviving is a son, Michael Addis; five daughters, Linda (Bill) Sornberger, Nancy (Bob) Fennig, Julie (David) Smith, Jennifer (Lawrence) Briggs and Lisa (Jim) Shafer; two sisters, Eileen Anderson and Eleanor Addis; ten grandchildren, two step grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one infant son, one brother, and one sister.

He worked as a carman and supervisor for the former CB & Q Railroad now Burlington Northern Sante Fe Railroad for 36 years.

Private services will be at Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens.
