Effie Calhoun mar. Joseph Elzie Yandell in 1902. They raised their family in and around Red Oak, where Elzie farmed and preached and pastored churches. They had Lura, Jura, Willie Bea, Jessie Lee, Laverne, Orvel L., Warren G. and Larkin Andrew (L.A.). Musetta died in a lightning accident in 1929; 2-yr old Stella Mae d. 1925; and a baby son in 1905, stone in Norris cemetery.
Effie's life, as many others, was not easy during this time, raising her children during the Depression, but she was not a complainer. She was a mild-mannered woman, demonstrating Christian attributes and love to one and all. Her Memorial service was so large it was held in a school gymnasium in this small town, which speaks of the esteem and admiration in which she was held.
