OBITUARY OF HENRY ASHLEY
Henry Ashley was born in New York state in 1832 (sic) and died at his home in Edgar July 5, 1919.
He moved with his parents to Wisconsin where he was united in marriage to Miss Elizabeth Knoulton (sic) in 1862. In 1881 they moved to Clay County where he lived on a farm until a few years ago when he with his wife moved to town where he has since lived. His wife was called to the great beyond, February 16, 1914.
Mr. Ashley was always a good friend and neighbor, the latch string was always out to strangrs (sic) who passed thru in an early day when this country was young. In a case of need he always responded. He has cared for a multitude of people in his time and nothing was left undone when he needed assistance. His family consisted of three boys and one girl; Will Ashley of Sutton, Mitt Ashley of O'Neil (sic), Herb Ashley of Edgar and Mrs. Will Wheeland of Edgar. There are six grandchildren. The funeral was held at the home Monday afternoon at three o'clock. Interment at Edgar by the side of his wife.
