MONTPELIER MAN DIES SUDDENLY
Raymond Wesley Windley, 78, a resident of Montpelier since retirement in 1961 from maintenance department of Utah Power at Camp Lifton Pumping Station, died suddenly at about 8:30 a.m. Saturday of natural causes at his home, 255 North 11th Street. He was a World War I veteran.
He was born January 17, 1894 at St. Charles, a son of Charles John and Christine Jenson Windley. Mr. Windley lived at Camp Lifton from 1936 to 1961.
Mr. Windley and Thelma May Arnell were married November 14, 1917 at Paris and the ceremony was later solemnized in the LDS Temple at Logan. She died March 7, 1931. He married Myretta Nate Curd June 27, 1948. He was preceded in death by two sons.
Besides the widow, he is survived by three sons and a daughter, Armond Wesley Windley of Pomona, California, Sheldon Arnell Windley of Evanston, and Merrill Charles Windley of Flagstaff, Arizona and Mrs. Lynn (Clea) Gibson of Salt Lake City; 30 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; two stepchildren, Mrs. Don (Beverly) Tueller of Sacramento, California and Mrs. Richard (Carol) Barnes of Idaho Falls; and three sisters, Mrs. Elsie Christensen of Brigham City, Mrs. Hyrum (Ada) Jensen of California, and Mrs. Newell (Alta) Thomas of Pocatello.
Bishop Gene H. Passey conducted services Tuesday in the Matthews Morturary Chapel at 1 p.m., and family prayer was by Stanley Arnell. Mrs. T.D. Bird played prelude and postlude music.
Stephen Gibson offered the opening prayer; eulogy and tribute by Bishop Passey; song, "My Friend," by Don Windley; speaker, Ferris Hess; song, "Hold Thou My Hand," by Gerald Windley accompanied by Marilyn Bateman; prayer by Marcel Rigoulet.
The grave in the St. Charles cemetery was dedicated by Don Tueller. Acting as pallbearers were Stephen Gibson, Sheldon Windley, Jr., Gary Windley, Dale Windley, Ray Dee Windley and Brent Windley.
