ISAAC BAILEY DIES AT HOME IN GREENFIELD
Isaac Bailey, 89 years of age, died at his home in Greenfield, Sunday evening, April 18. He has been a resident of Adair County for the last 53 years and a resident of Greenfield for 30 years.
Funeral services were held at his late home Tuesday afternoon at 1:30 o'clock. Interment took place in the Fontanelle cemetery. The services were in charge of Rev. Hastie and Rev. Clampitt, of Greenfield.
Isaac Bailey was born in Butler County, Ohio, March 8, 1837.
He was married to Marie Thompson in 1860. Their marriage was blessed by four children, two of whom died and were followed by the death of their mother. The surviving children from this first marriage are Robert of California and Mrs. Etta Steele of Gravity.
Mr. Bailey came to Iowa when he was 21 years of age. He has made his home in Adair County for the last 53 years and has been a resident of Greenfield for 30 years.
In 1869 at Sigourney, Iowa, his marriage to Miss Ella Tomlinson was solemnized. To them were born five children. The children are, Bert of California, I. P. Bailey of Fontanelle, Mrs. Ruby Campbell (sic) of Winterset, James of Texas, and Mrs. Rhoda Shreck, deceased.
Mr. Bailey was a member of the Christian Church for 40 years.

DEATH OF ISAAC BAILEY
Isaac Bailey, father of I. P. Bailey, and one of the pioneers of Adair county, died at his home in Greenfield Sunday, after a long illness. For 21 years his family lived three and one-half miles northwest of Fontanelle on the farm now owned by Wm. Untiedt, and he was well known to all the older residents of this part of the county.
Isaac Bailey was born in Butler county, Ohio, March 8, 1837, and died at his late home in Greenfield, April 18, 1926, at the age of 89 years, 1 month and 12 days.
He came to Iowa when a young man and was married to Mary Thompson in Washington township, Adair county, October 29, 1858. To them four children were born, two of whom died in infancy. The other two are Robert M. Bailey, of California, an honored minister of the Church of Christ, and Mrs. Etta Steel, of Gravity, Iowa.
His first wife died September 4, 1867. On August 30, 1869, he was married to Ella Tomlinson, in Keokuk, Iowa. To this union five children were born: Burton, living in California; Mrs. Rhoda Shreck, Wichita, Kansas, who died about two years ago; I. P. Bailey, of Fontanelle; Mrs. Ruby Canfield (sic), of Winterset; and James Bailey, Higgins, Texas.
Mr. Bailey united with the Church of Christ in Fontanelle about 40 years ago and was an officer for many years. Later he united with the church in Greenfield. He was a faithful and God fearing man and died in the faith of Christ and the resurrection to an endless life. He died surrounded by his dear ones during his last illness. His dear companion who shared his joys and sorrows for 57 years feels the loss of separation more keenly than any, but with faith in the same Lord looks forward to meeting again.
Besides his immediate family, he leaves 17 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren, also a brother, Levi Bailey, in Francitis, Texas. For 21 years the family lived on the home place three and one-half miles northwest of Fontanelle and moved to Greenfield 30 years ago last January.
"He has fought a good fight. He has finished the course. He has kept the faith and for him and all the faithful there is a crown of righteousness which the Lord, the Righteous Judge, shall give on that day."
