Daughter of the late Bert Hughes and Bettie Hughes Baines, she was a member of Juniper Bay Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by a sister, Edna Earle Alford, and a brother, M.B. Hughes. She was survived by her husband of 50 years, Charles Shelley; three children; seven grandchildren; one sister. Her funeral was held June 8, 2008, at Juniper Bay Baptist Church with The Rev. Rodney Hord officiating.
