Funeral services for Grady Lee Hughes, 75, will be held at 1 p.m., Thursday, July 11, 2002 in Centuries Funeral Home Chapel. Officiating will be Pastor Wayne Spears of LaPorte, TX and assisting will be Pastor Rick Edmonds of Calvary Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Centuries Memorial Park. Visitation will be Wednesday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Born March 26, 1927 in Vivian, LA, he went to be with his Holy Father on July 3, 2002 as the result of an auto accident in Tucson, AZ. As a loving Christian man, he served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He worked 34 years for the Shreveport Transit Transportation while becoming an ordained deacon for Morningside Baptist Church. He has since been enjoying the 20 plus years of retirement with his grandchildren.
Grady is survived by his wife of 55 years, Sue Von Hollen-Hughes of Mansfield, TX; two sons, Ronnie Lee Hughes and wife, Kristina of Mansfield, TX and Bruce Wayne Hughes and wife, Siggi of Kehei Maui Hawaii; a daughter, Simone Tadlock and husband, Craig of El Paso, TX; eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Lynwood Lupo, Renee DeHoudt, Kenneth Von Hollen, Sonny Albert, Wayne Ardeneaux and Craig Tadlock.
