Sarah was the first dtr born to Duncan Campbell and Rebecca Lippincott Eldridge in Davenport, Scott, IA, but she was not the first child of this couple. Her brother Charles was born in Cincinnati. She was the first white girl born in the area, but not the first child.

She married Charles Asher in her family home on Christmas Day in 1860. He was living with the Eldridges in the East as a hired hand.

Charles was born ca 1834 in Niagara County, NY. He served in the Civil War as a private in Co. D, 20th Reg, Iowa Infantry. Charles divorced Sarah and left for Nebraska where he married and died in Silver Creek, Merrick, NE in a farm field fire.

Sarah died in Delmar, Clinton, IA from a chloroform and laudanum overdose. She was divorced from Charles and was going to a hotel to meet a man. (Clinton newspaper).

She is buried on her father's plot. Sarah and Charles had 1 son Lewis Micajah Asher b ca 1861 in Davenport. His whereabouts are not known.
