Mr. Horton passed away Thursday, June 9, 2005 in Shreveport, LA after a lengthy illness. He was born in Shreveport, LA and was self-employed in numerous businesses in Bossier Parish until he retired in 1988. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Haughton. He was known for his outgoing personality and never met a stranger.
Mr. Horton was preceded in death by his parents, Lovic and Mary Horton; and sister, Virginia Smith.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Kathleen Horton; sons, Gary Horton, Shelly Horton, Jr. and wife, Denise; brothers, Pete Horton and Jerry Horton; sister, Ethel Pollard and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be grandsons and nephews.
He loved the Shriner's Hospital for Children in Shreveport and the family wishes that in lieu of flowers donations be made to the Shriner's Hospital.
