The Rev. B. E. Shaner, aged 49, a minister of the Lutheran denomination, and well known throughout the entire valley, died early Sunday morning at this home 327 East Ninth avenue. When he came to Tarentum ten years ago the deceased was a robust man, but seized with disease long suffering reduced him to a mere shadow of himself when death finally summoned the pastor to his reward. He had been ill for a long time and was forced to give up the pastorate of Trinity Lutheran church on Allegheny street, where he labored faithfully for a number of years. Mr. Shaner was a well-known clergyman, having served pastorates at Punxsutawney, Callensburg, Logansport, Ind., and Tarentum. He is survived by his widow and the following children: Mrs. Ward Smith, Harold, Clarence, Belle, Elizabeth, Ruth, Henry, Helen, John, and Alice; also by his father, Henry Shaner, of Leechburg, and three sisters, Mrs. Belle Moore and Mrs. Thomas Groves, of Leechburg, and Mrs. C.W. Kelly, of Pittsburgh. There will be brief funeral services at the home in Tarentum at 8:30 o'clock tomorrow morning, after which the funeral party will leave on the 9:21 train for Leechburg. After services in the Hebron Lutheran church there, interment will be made in Evergreen cemetery, Leechburg. Friends of the family are invited to attend the services at the home here.
