Greataunt EMMA MARGARETHA DENKER (Mrs. Fred WIESEs) older brothers at Davenport, Scott County, Iowa. (I now know this is not EMMA in the photo, but believe this is the boy's older sister, BERTHA (mar.Emil ROEHS)and the photo may have been taken closer to 1879 or 1880.
Although EMMA's death records show her death date to be 1872, We found her birth records at Schoenberg, Holstein Germany, Reg. #61 to be 23 Nov 1870 at Barsbeck, Holstein, Germany to HANS & ABEL DITTMER DENKER, in Barsbeck, Holstein Germany. (Near Kiel)
Emma was the youngest of 6 children and came to the US with her parents at age 15 aboard the ship Wieland. They sailed from Hamburg and landed in New York on 9 Oct 1886. Some of the family, including the brothers shown, had previously settled in Scott County, Iowa where many Probstei area Germans had come. See her father's FindaGrave Memorial #70174992 for more links and history.
Her siblings, all born in Barsbek, Germany and all now deceased, were:
CHRISTIAN FRIED. b.1851 d.1943 No.Dak
HANS ASMUS (jr.) 1856 d.1934 D'port
(My Grandfather)
CLAUS HINR. 1858 d.1940 D'port, Iowa
BERTHA (ROEHS) 1864 d.1957 Lake Pk.MN
GUSTAV "ADOLPH 1867 d. 1920 in Texas.

We have no record of children but would like to know more about the Wiese family. (The 2 children are Hans Asmus jr.'s eldest of 12. My mother,SELMA MABEL, was the youngest of the 12.)
