Ava Mae was the daughter of James Edward and Berthenia "Holland" Murrah. She married Elliott Horace Hardy, son of William Austin and Hassie Alice "McFatter" Hardy. They were the parents of seven children.

SARDIS - Ava Mae Murrah Hardy, 96, homemaker, died Sunday at Sardis Community Nursing Home. Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Tippo Methodist Church with burial in Tippo Cemetery. Newsom Funeral Home has charge. Mrs. Hardy, the widow of Elliot H. Hardy, leaves four daughters, Bonnie Batten of Bartlett, Tenn., Fay Tidwell of Charleston, DeLois Douglas of Parchman and Jimmy Lauderdale of Sardis; two sons, Bob Hardy and Ray Hardy, both of Tippo; two sisters, Loumetta Purvis of Crystal Springs and Orie Hicks of Boytown, Texas, 14 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
