He was the son of the late Frank and Minnie Gist Armfield, a 1967 graduate of New Bethel High School in Woodruff, SC, Norfolk State University, served in the US Marine Corp, a member of New Bethel Baptist Church in Woodruff, SC, and also attended Laurel Hill Baptist Church in Waterloo, SC.
Surviving are two daughters, LaVonda D. Armfield of Richmond, VA, and Keima Armfield of Norfolk, VA; five brothers, Terry Armfield and Carl Armfield, both of Spartanburg, SC, David Armfield of New York, Johnny Lee Armfield of Patterson, NJ, and Rev. Fred Armfield of Greenwood, SC; four sisters, Alberta Russell of Sun City, FL, Alma Mays of Woodruff, SC, and Debra Armfield and Dannett Armfield, both of Spartanburg, SC; and five grandchildren.
