W. B. "Bill" Laws, age 96, of Coleman, died Saturday, December 19, 1998, at Coleman Medical Center.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. today (Tuesday) at Stevens Funeral Home Chapel with David Coffman officiating, assisted by James Bailey. Interment will follow at Glen Cove Cemetery, under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home.
W. B. "Bill" Laws was born September 5, 1902 in Burkett, a son of the late John Bailey Laws and Beatrice Foster Laws. He grew up in Glen Cove and attended school there. He was married to Ruby Lee Copeland, Dathnar Martin and Vada Jennings Meador, all of whom are deceased. He was a mechanic, mill foreman and farmer. Mr. Laws was a member of Elm Street Church of Christ. For many years he wrote a column "Back Yonder" for the Coleman newspaper. He enjoyed music and was a fiddle player at many area musicals.
Survivors include three sons, Billy Bob Laws of Glen Cove, John Bailey Laws of Amarillo and Glen Ray Laws of Mesa, Arizona; six step-children, Dorcia Holtz, Dellene Driskill and Melba Baugh, all of Coleman, Doyle Meador of Fort Worth, Lester Meador of Abilene and E. W. Meador of Cross Plains; 10 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; 5 great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by six brothers and two sisters. He was the last of the children of John Bailey Laws and Beatrice Foster Laws.
Honory pallbearers are Roy Gardner, Gary Driskill, Harold Bragg, Carl Bludworth, Gene Christian, J. A. Bozeman, E. W. Meador and W. B. Bludworth.
