Dale A. Atkinson, 68, of Monarch, a U.S. Army veteran, died of complications from heart disease Saturday May 31, 2008 at a local hospital.

Dale is survived by his son Dale (April) Atkinson Jr. of Whitehall, Ark.; stepson Keith Carlson of Great Falls; a brother, Edward (Carol) Atkinson of Great Falls, five grandchildren, several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

Dale was born June 28, 1939 in Great Falls, to Harry and Ellen Tuomi-Atkinson. He was raised and educated in Great Falls, graduating from Great Falls High School.

Dale was a retired parts con-troller for the city of Great Falls, and was active in the Army Reserves. He was a member of the Elks Club and enjoyed gardening and collecting HO model trains.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Darrell, Russell and Larry Atkinson; and a sister, Marie Williamson.
