Berlin Wilson Quivey, son of Linus and Anna Quivey, was born in Wautaugua, Illinois, April 25, 1859. He passed away at his home on Wednesday morning November 25th, 1931 aged 72 years and seven months. At the age of ten he moved with his parents to Grinnell, Iowa, where they lived on a farm until 1890 when he was married to Emma M. Tuttle of Troy, New York. He moved with his wife to the Richard Whitney farm south of town for three years then purchased a farm in Westfield where they lived until four years ago when due to his failing health they moved to 808 East Street, Grinnell where they lived at the time of his death.
To this union were born two children. Berlin Wilson Jr. who died in infancy and Anna May now Mrs. Willis Evans. Later George Bliven made his home with them and is now farming the homestead.
Berlin was a regular attendant of Westfield church and contributed to its support.
He was a charter member of Westfield Grange and spent six years as treasurer of that organization.
He leaves to mourn his loss his wife and daughter, Anna May, George Bliven; a sister, Mrs. O. T. Carlstrom and a brother George L. Quivey, all of this city and several nieces and nephews and a host of friends. A brother and two sisters preceded him in death.
He was a kind and loving husband and father and an honest, helpful neighbor. Berlin Quivey was a friendly man, and had many friends. He had a great interest in the Westfield community life as represented in the church, Sabbath school and Grange. He was keenly interested in the many programs put on in the church and very appreciative of the community gatherings held there. He will be greatly missed in the neighborhood.
