~0bit~February 25, 1891 Independence Conservative-Mrs. Elizabeth Hekel, widow of Frederic Hekel, died at her home, Tuesday last in her 78th year. She was known and loved by all, because of her many noble traits of character. She was a kind mother, an affectionate grandmother, a friend to the friendless, and she had an encouraging word of everybody. The writer called upon her three times in the last few days of her illness and found her sweetly trusting in the promises of her Savior, patiently waiting for the messenger who should call her from that tenement of clay to a beautiful home where she now is. The funeral was conducted by Rev. George Fry, in the Wesleyan Church Friday at 2:30 p.m.
