Son of Thomas Apperson (1790-1853) and Luvitha Vest (abt 1794-1880). Husband of Laura Miller.

Military Career:
Peter Alexander Apperson - Co F 28 Regiment - 1st Sergeant -
At age 20 on 6-18-1861 he mustered in as a private. He was promoted to Sergeant Jan - June 1862. Wounded near Richmond, Va 6-25 - 7-1-1862. Returned to duty before 9-1-1862 when he was wounded again in the finger and/or ck at Ox Hill, VA. Returned to duty and was promoted to 1st Sergeant 12-1-1862. Wounded again in the right shoulder and captured t Gettysburg, PA during the fighting 7-1 - 3-1863. Hospitalized at Davids Island, NY Harbor. Paroled and transfered to City Point, VA where he was received for exchange 9-16-1863. Returned to duty, but reported absent-sick Sep-Dec 864. Returned to duty Jan - Feb 1865. Captured again near Petersburg, VA 4-2-1865. Confined at Pint Lookout, MD until release 6-22-1865 after taking the Oath of Allegiance.
He married Laura A Miller, daughter of William Miller, on 5-4-1879. They were the parents of one child: Henry Turner Apperson 7-15-1880.
