Jim D. Barwick,73, of Lancelot Road, a retired salesman for Signode Steel Strapping CO., died of heart failure Wednesday at St. Dominic's Jackson Memorial Hospital.
Mr. Barwick was a Braxton native and lived in Jackson for more that 50 years. He was a graduate of Millsaps College where he was a member of Kappa Alpha Fraternity. After his retirement, he was a drug and alcohol counselor for the Mississippi State Hospital. He was a published writer.
He was a WWII Marine Corps veteran, having served in the Marines during the Korean War and was one of the few survivors of the Chosen Reservoir. He was a member of Braxton United Methodist Church.
Survivors include; Wife, Doris; daughter, Dr. Katherine Barwick-Snell of Norman, Okla; and two grandchildren.
