W. E. SAVAGE OF GUNTER DIES
Celina - Walter E. Savage, early-day North Texas homesteader, died at 2:30 a.m. today in his home near Gunter.
Funeral services for the 80-year-old settler will be held in the Gunter First Baptist Church, where he was a deacon, at 2 p.m. tomorrow. Burial will be in the Gunter cemetery. The Celina Funeral Home is directing the services.
Mr. Savage, a retired farmer, was born in Corinth, Miss. He married in 1891. He had been in bad health since a stroke four years ago.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Sarah Savage; a daughter, Mrs. Ola B. Harding, Dallas; four sons, Robert and George of Sherman and Douglas and Ray of Dallas; eight grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

This man is really confusing! His name seems to have actually been Henry Walter E. Savage. He was "H. W." in 1880, Walter H. in 1900, and just plain Walter in 1910. He is listed as Henry Walter Savage on his Death Certif. His birth, according to his Death Certificate, occurred 23 Feb 1873 in Corinth, Adams, Mississippi. He was the son of John Hamilton Savage and Louisa J. (Lusk) Savage.
