She married Thomas Jefferson Vennum December 02, 1855 in Fayette Co. IA.

DIED--Mrs. I. N. [sic] Vennum, mother of Mrs. Wm. Axtell, died in this city, Wednesday, May 1st. She was 65 years of age. Her death was caused from an abscess on the liver. The funeral services were held on Thursday. Her husband and several children survive her. The family lives in Wichita, but Mrs. Vennum had been staying with her daughter here most of the time during the past few years. The sympathy of everybody goes out to the stricken husband, sons and daughter.

Mrs. Lurinda Vennum, wife of T.J.Vennum, who is a brother of Frank Vennum of this City, died at Medicine Lodge last Thursday. She had often visited here and was known by many Coffeyville people.

Death of Mrs. Vennum. Mrs. Lurinda J. Vennum, whose death was noted last week as having occurred on May 1st, 1901, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Wm. Axtel, of this city, was born October 14th, 1836. She was a mother of eight children, six of whom survive her. All of them except a daughter, Mrs. Luancie Binning, of Rawlins County, Kansas, who did not arrive until after the funeral, were present at her death. Her brother, J. R. Smith, and wife, and her sister, Mrs. Emma Harris, and daughter-in-law, Mrs. S. E. Vennum, all of Ft. Scott, also failed to arrive until after the funeral on account of distance.

The memory of Mrs. Vennum will be cherished for long years to come for her motherly kindness and noble traits of character.
