Dennis P. McCreary, 88, formerly of 959 Parkside Lane, Lancaster, passed away on Wednesday evening at Brethren Village, where he had been residing.

He was the husband of the late Arlene R. Benedict McCreary, who passed away on May 16th. Born in Claysburg, Blair County, Dennis was the son of the late Harry L. and Mable Bender McCreary.

He had worked as a supervisor of the color picture tube machine shop at the RCA Corp., retiring in 1982 after 32 years of service. Prior to this, he had worked at Everite Pump for 5 years and at Reliable Tool Co for 5 years as a tool and die maker.

A World War II veteran, Dennis served in the US Army in the Corps of Engineers in the Pacific Theater as a private first class.

He was a member of the American Legion Post 185 in Mount Joy and was a lifetime member of the Disabled Americans Veterans Post 80. He enjoyed gardening, reading, and traveling.

Dennis was a graduate of Stevens Trade School and was a member of the school's alumni association.

Dennis was preceded in death by a brother, Stanton McCreary, and by 4 sisters: Marie Miller, Frances Hutzel, Betty Miller, and Annie Horstkamp.

Friends will be received on Monday from 10-11 AM at the Charles F. Snyder Funeral Home, 414 E. King St., Lancaster, PA, with the funeral service to follow at 11 AM. Interment in Conestoga Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Dennis' memory to Hospice of Lancaster County, 685 Good Dr., Box 4125, Lancaster, PA 17604-4125.
