The following Newspaper clipping is pasted inside the front cover of the Carleton Family Bible:
Sister Carleton made a profession of religion when quite young, and joined the Methodist Church shortly after her marriage. Her illness was of short duration, and at her death, gave bright evidence that she laid up treasure in Heaven. When near death, she called her companion and children around to receive her dying charge. She remarked, my way is perfectly clear. She was delighted when the weary itinerant called in. She was a gentle mother, loving wife, kind neighbor and a devoted Christian. Her end was as might be expected in peace. Let me die the death of the righteous and let my last end be like hers.
