Mickey was the son of Marion Archie, Jr. and Dora Pearl "Adams" Mordecai. He attended Catoosa schools where he learned to love sports. In high school he excelled in basketball, receiving awards for best free throw shooter, best field goal shooter and for outstanding player 1969-1972. He ran track when a senior, the 400-yard dash, 440 relay, and the mile relay. He was on the first golf team Catoosa High had. Mickey received a basketball scholarship to Claremore Military Academy. He later transferred to Northeastern Oklahoma State University at Tahlequah, OK, where he received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Education in 1975. All through his life, he loved sports. He played tennis and baseball and became a good third baseman with the help of his father, who was a third baseman on the softball teams at American Airlines, when he was a player-manager for some years. Mickey wanted to be a teacher-coach. He thrived on good sports and hard work. He worked and held positions as R.A. in his college dormitories. He worked summer vacations, also. Mickey died at the age of 26 from a Cerebral Aneurysm. At the time of his death, he was employed at Dover Corporation, Norris Division as a machinist.
