Maria McDowell Dendy, 92,died Monday, August 19, 1996, at her home in Delray Beach Fla., after a long illness. She was born April 8, 1904 in Okolona to Martha Jane Stanford McDowell and Joseph Sadler McDowell. She married Samuel Tilden Dendy in Houston, Texas, in 1927. They Lived in Okolona from 1954-1975, moving to Florida after retirement. She was a homemaker and a member of the First United Church of Okolona. She was precede in death by her husband in December 1987.

Graveside services were at 11 a.m. Friday at Oddfewllows Cemetery in Okolona with the Rev. Wally Cayson officiating. Lee Memorial/Okolona Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Survivors include one sister, May McDowell McGehee of Cedars Health Center in Tupelo; a sister in law, Mrs. Banks McDowell of Aberdeen; several nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers were Fred Carlisle, Sam McDowell, Banks McDowell, Jr., Dennis Carlisle, Jerry Ellis, Sam NcClatchy.

Visitation was graveside following the service Friday.
