Helen Mae Wilhelms, the daughter of McKinley and Annie (Wright) Adamson,
was born on March 13, 1920, at Nelson, Nebraska. She passed away on May 6, 2006, at
the Good Samaritan Center in Superior, Nebraska at the age of 86 years, 2 months and 23
days.
Helen was one of five children. She attended country school in Nuckolls county
and graduated from Nelson High School. After graduating she taught one year in a
country school northeast of Nelson. During WWII she was a fingerprint technician in
Washington D.C. for J. Edgar Hoover. Helen and her sister Halle together owned a beauty
shop in Nelson prior to her marriage. She also was a beautician at Presbyterian Manor,
Denver, Colorado. Also in Denver, Helen was a foster parent, caring for 32 newly born
babies. In Joes, Colorado she went to Yuma, Colorado once a month to cut hair and give
permanents at New Hope Nursing Home for 9 years.
Helen was united in marriage to Newell M. Wilhelms on March 2, 1946, at the
Nelson First Christian Church. This union was blessed with two children. Newell and
Helen were married for 60 years and was a gracious lady and wonderful wife.
She was a member of several square dance clubs in Eastern Colorado, a member
of the International twins Association for 19 years, Nebraska twins Associate
membership, member of the Nelson Community United Church of Christ, Women's
Fellowship, Wheelers and Dealers, and the women's coffee club.
Helen lived in the communities of Manhattan, Kansas; Denver, Colorado; Joe's
Colorado and Superior, Nebraska.
Preceding her in death were her parents, one son, Gale Dean, two brothers, Dale &
Earl Adamson and twin sister, Halle Grummert.
Survivors include her husband, Newell of Superior, and daughter Gloria Oster and
husband Steve of Gaston, Oregon; daughter-in-law, Cynthia, one brother, Joe Adamson
and wife Lorene of Lincoln, Nebraska; nine grandchildren, Mike Wilhelms, Stephanie
Booth, Tina, Craig Oster, Darcy Ward, Josh Curtis, Ian Curtis, Variety Curtis and China
Curtis; and 15 great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.


Funeral services were held on Wednesday, May 10, 2006 at 10:30 AM from the
Nelson Community United Church of Christ in Nelson, Nebraska with Rev. Dr. Stephen
Berry officiating. Music was "In His Time", "On Eagles Wings" and "How Great Thou
Art", with Stephanie Thayer as soloist and Carlita Erickson as organist.
Pallbearers were Jason Follmer, Dennis Follmer, Mark Thayer, Mike Thayer,
Greg Booth, and Dean Adamson.
Interment was in the Nelson Cemetery at Nelson, Nebraska.
Memorials may be given to the Alzheimer Association.
