Antonio and his family moved from Monte Vista to La Posta, Colorado around 1897, where Antonio was a very early settler. He literally "staked his claim" in a land rush and had homes and ranches in the La Posta and Florida Mesa farming communities south of Durango. He is mentioned in the fourth edition of the book "Pioneers of the San Juan Country".

Antonio and Juanita Maria Martinez were married in Carnero, Saguache County, Colorado (near Monte Vista) in 1884. They had six known children:


1) Jose Maria "Joe" Trujillo

2) Maria Francisca "Frances" Trujillo Vigil, also known as Francesquita.

3) Louis Alfred Trujillo.

4) Maria Emilia "Emily" Trujillo Manzanares.

5) Samuel Trujillo.

6) Maria Eufemia "Fanny" Trujillo.
