Educated in Kidder, Mo., she earned a Missouri state teaching certificate and taught for several years in rural area schools.
On May 30, 1940, Kathryn married Clyde Dale Epperson in Chillicothe, Mo. She spent many years in Auxvasse, Mo. working in the family grocery store.
In 1954 she moved to Selma, Ca. and soon began teaching English at Fremont Junior High School in Fowler.
She married Willis Swan Crosby on July 1, 1964, in Hanover, NH; the couple returned to Selma where they resided for the remainder of their years.
After her teaching career of 11 years, she dedicated herself to raising her three children and participating in volunteer activities.
Kathryn was involved in the Selma Hospital Women's Guild as a volunteer in the gift shop, she also crocheted baby hats for local newborns. When Willis retired, they spent many winters snow-birding in Buckeye, Az. Kathryn's volunteerism expanded well into her last days as she spent many hours at her home church, Monmouth Presbyterian, baking pies for the annual Caruther's Fair. Kathryn enjoyed watching basketball and baseball, in which she "coached" the St. Louis Cardinals and Phoenix Suns.
Kathryn was preceded in death by her parents; sisters Myrna Ward and Helen Hill, and her husband, Willis Crosby.
She is survived by her three children, Larry Dale Epperson and his wife Tish of Wenatchee, Wa., Todd Crosby and his wife Sunni of Hermiston, Or., and Laurel Crosby Deibert and her husband Dan of Reedley, Ca.; her four grandchildren, Laura Epperson Gill, Marjorie Deibert McIntyre, Kathryn Deibert, and Jennifer Deibert; and great-grandson, Nicholas Murphy.
A Graveside Service was held at the Floral Memorial Park in Selma, Ca. on Thursday, May 29, 2008, at 2:30 p.m.
A Memorial Service was held at the Monmouth Community Presbyterian Church in Monmouth, Ca. at 4:00 p.m.
