Elijah Emberson helped develop the Trinity Basin, which stretches into southwestern Grayson County, for ranching. The Emberson Land and Cattle Company owned twenty-five thousand acres and held grazing rights to fifty thousand more in Grayson, Denton and Collin Counties. Eldridge settled east of Pilot Point in Grayson near Tioga in 1852. He and his brother Elijah raised beef for the Confederate Army.
