Mrs. Oscar Bear, 71, One of the Oldest Residents of Plano Succumbs
Plano today mourns the death of one of its pioneer residents of Plano having been born in this county and she with her husband built the first home in Plano some 51 years ago.
Mrs. Bear is the mother of Dewey Bear, well known garage-man of Centerville. She died at her home yesterday noon following a three years' illness. She was the daughter of Pat Harold, Appanoose county pioneer.
She had been in a critical condition the last three months. Her husband, Oscar Bear, is in ill health at the present time. Mrs. Bear was a lifelong member of the Christian church at Plano and was well known and highly regarded in that vicinity.
In death she is survived by two brothers, Lincoln Harbold of Plano, John Harbold of Minnesota, three sisters, Kittie Harbold of Brewster, Kans., Mrs. J.B. Krutza of Portland, Ore., and Mrs. Della Close of Plano. She is also survived by the following children: Dewey Bear of Centerville, R.E. Bear of Mystic, C.M. Bear of White Lake, S. Oak, Mrs. B.O. Sager of Brewster, Kans., and Mrs. A.G. Baker of Burlington. Three children preceded her in death.
Funeral services will be held tomorrow afternoon at the Plano Christian church at 2 o'clock with Rev. Robert Seath officiating. Burial will be made in the Philadelphia cemetery.

Udora (Harbold) Bear preceded her husband, Oscar B. Bear, in death by 10 days. In the 1900 U.S. Census Udora indicated that she was the mother of nine, but that two had passed away. The known children of Oscar and Udora Bear are: Charles Monroe Bear, Mable Bear (26 March 1884 - 1 May 1884), Mary Bertha Bear, Ola May (Bear) Sager, Bessie Mona (Bear) Peterson, Robert Elmer Baker, Ella (Bear) Baker, Frank Anderson Bear and Dewey H. Bear.
