Regena Farmer Moates, 82, of Etowah, died Sunday afternoon, July 4, 2004, at Life Care Center of Athens.

A native and resident of Etowah for most of her life, she was a daughter of the late James Blaine and Jannie Mae McFarland Farmer. She was a member of North Etowah Baptist Church and was preceded in death by her husband, Charles E. Moates; one son, Larry Lynn Moates; two brothers, Charles and Earl Farmer; and one sister-in-law, Betty Melton.

Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Jerry and Nancy Moates of Houston, Texas, and Eddie and Jane Moates of Etowah; three grandchildren, Shawn and Shane Moates and Jeri McCraw; three great-grandchildren, Lauren McCraw and Austin and Jaden Moates; four sisters and two brothers-in-law, Lillian Jeralds, Rachael and Jack Randolph and Marie Perkins, all of Etowah, and Shirley and Jay Coats of Modesto, Calif.; three brothers-in-law, Rex Moates of Toledo, Ohio, Alvin Moates of Marietta, Ga., and Melvin Moates of Tallahassee, Fla.; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be 8 p.m. Tuesday in the south chapel of Bordwine Funeral Home with the Rev. Allen Bates officiating. Burial will be 10 a.m. Wednesday in Green Hill Cemetery and will conclude with the White Dove Liberation Ceremony.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
