Funeral services for Hazel Irene Nichols, 81, West Plains, will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, May 28, 2008, in the Rose Chapel, Robertson-Drago Funeral Home.

Mrs. Nichols passed from this earthly life at 12:30 a.m. Sunday, May 25, 2008, in Ozarks Medical Center. She was born June 16, 1926, in Ozark, Ark., to John and Bessie Collins Nichols.

Mrs. Nichols was a certified foster parent, having over 100 foster children. She was a devoted daughter, mother, grandmother and sister. Mrs. Nichols was a faithful Christian for many years and was a member of the Highway AB Church of Christ in West Plains.

She is survived by two sons, Ray Bankston and Don Bankston, both of West Plains; three daughters, Beverly Richardson, husband, Jerry, Alton, Mo., Brinda Reed, husband, Jack, and Ellen Grisham, husband, Larry, West Plains; 16 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; three brothers, Eugene Nichols and Harley Nichols, Russellville, Ark., and John Nichols, Clarksville, Ark.; one sister, Betty Spitzer, Russellville, Ark.; and several nieces, nephews, friends, neighbors, and brothers and sisters in Christ.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Mointa Bankston; one son, John Bankston; five brothers, Chester, Eddie, Lewis, Frank and Cecil Nichols; and two sisters, Imogene Wendell and Frances Reed.

Her memory is precious to all who knew her.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today, Tuesday, at Robertson-Drago Funeral Home. Burial will be at Bailey Chapel Cemetery, Alton, Mo. Memorial contributions may be made to American Cancer Society and left at Robertson-Drago Funeral Home.
