Wayne B. Aiken, 76, of Etowah, died Wednesday, Jan. 28, 2004, at Baptist Hospital in Knoxville.

A native of Tellico Plains and a resident of Etowah for the past 25 years, he was a son of the late Edward and Florence Aiken. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and was retired from the Carpenter's Union No. 74 in Chattanooga. He was a member of North Etowah Baptist Church and a member of the Etowah Masonic Lodge. He was preceded in death by one son, Gary L. Arms; two brothers, Kenneth Aiken and Clement Aiken; and one sister, Eliece A. Morelock.

Survivors include his wife, Lillian W. Aiken of Etowah; one daughter and son-in-law, Joyce and Roger Farley of Etowah; five grandchildren, Heather and Lori Farley, both of Etowah, Kaela and Erica Arms, and Russell Arms and wife, Jennifer, all of Anderson, S.C.; one great-granddaughter, Alexus L. Arms of Anderson, S.C.; one sister and brother-in-law, Marcelle and G.C. Hunt; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be 8 p.m. Friday in the south chapel of Bordwine Funeral Home with Dr. Gerald Atkins and the Rev. Allen Bates officiating. Services will conclude with the Celebration of Life video. Family and friends will assemble at the funeral home at 12:30 p.m. Saturday and proceed to Green Hill Cemetery for the 1:30 p.m. burial. Burial will conclude with the White Dove Liberation Ceremony.

Pallbearers will be David Massengale, Roy Gray, Dan Rayburn, Horton Plumley, Glenn Sisson and Gene White. Honorary pallbearers will be Howard Fugate, Bob Conway, John B. Frye, Hubert Bledsoe, Dale West and Dan Perkins.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the North Etowah Baptist Church Connector Building Fund.
