Ruby Mae Propst was born March 3, 1921 in Timbo, Arkansas
to Berry R. Farris and Iva A. George Farris. She departed this life on April 26, in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
Her family moved to Tuskegee from Arkansas in 1926 where she attended school and graduated in 1939 from Bristow High School, On June 24,1939 Ruby and Leroy Propst were united in marriage at the Boston Ave. Methodist Church in Tulsa. Three daughters were born to this union.
She attended the First Baptist Church for 60 years. She volunteered with the Red Cross and was a member of the Newby Home Demonstration Club, Tuskegee and Newby Reunion Association, UP and CVV United Food Commercial Workers Union, and the Farm Bureau. Ruby loved gardening, sewing, and feeding the animals. She was a great cook and could crochet and grow flowers. She was never idle.
Survivors include her daughters: Mary Zembrod and husband Tony of Wichita Falls, Tex, Donna Morgan and husband Hal of Newby, Okla. and Deanna Smith and husband Richard of Plano, Tex.; one brother Hurshell Farris of Medesto, Calif,, and one sister Georgia Bratton of Dixon, Calif.; eight grandchildren, Dr. James McGouran,III, Donna Louann Wasson, Joanna Bartholomew, Melanie Conant, Jeff Morgan, Michael Smith, Ann Boyd, and Dr. Karen Morgan-Vanderlick, two stepgrandsons, David and Mark Zembrod and 20 great-grandchildren and six step-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband in June 1994, four brothers, Montie Farris, AJ Farris, Charles Farris, and Colman Farris, and one sister, Shirley Porter.
Services were Tuesday, April 29, at the First Baptist Church with Reverend Craig Long officiating. Interment was at the Bristow City Cemetery. Arrangements were directed by Hutchins-Maples Funeral Home.
