John Bishard, 84, member of a pioneer Des Moines family died here Saturday. He had suffered a stroke last September.
Born in Des Moines, Mr. Bishard was widely known in the printing business until his retirement in 1945. He was the youngest of three sons of the late Moses H. Bishard, founder of the weekly newspaper Plain Talk in 1867.
Following the death of their father, the three sons took over active operation of the newspaper and maintained it for well over 60 years.
Surviving are two sons, Clarence and Kenneth, both of Des Moines. Bishard's wife and two brothers preceded him in death.
