DeWitt Ponder
DeWitt Ponder, 68, passed away early Tuesday morning, May 21 in Deaconess Medical Center in Billings.
He was born in Sulphur Springs, Texas, the son of Hollis and Lola McLean, on February 18, 1923. He graduated from high school in Cooper, Texas. During World War II he was in the U.S. Army Air Corp, and he again enlisted this time with the U. S Navy during the Korean conflict.
On November 20, 1960 he was married to Noreda Mauland in the Big Timber Lutheran Church. He worked with the Yellowstone Dairy before moving to California in 1964. They returned to Billings in 1976 at which time he retired.
He is survived by his wife of Billings, a sister, Trudy Webb of Houston, Texas, and several nieces and nephews.
Graveside services were held on Thursday, May 23 in Mountain View Cemetery. The Rev. James Holmlund officiated and military honors were accorded by American Legion Post 19.
