Obituary from the Edwardsville Intelligencer, Edwardsville, Madison County, Illinois, Friday, May 25, 1934:
  Worden, IL--In failing health since April, George Ackerman, 70, a former resident of Worden, died at his home in Levis Lane near Alton, at 6:30 a.m. Thursday. Mr. Ackerman's death occurred just nine days after he had observed his seventieth birthday.
  Born in Dorsey May 15, 1864, Ackerman spent his entire life in the Alton area. He had farmed for the past 14 years in the vicinity in which his death occurred.
  His widow, Mrs. Etta Ackerman, two sons, Edward Ackerman of Godfrey, and six daughters, Mrs. Emma Opel, Mrs. Anna Rademacher and Mrs. Clara Schneider, all of Worden, Mrs. Fannie Carpenter of Newkirk, Okla., Mrs. Edith Krotz of Godfrey and Mrs. Ella Loekey of Alton survive. He also leaves one brother, Fred Ackerman of Alton, a sister, Mrs. Hempka Cox of Alton, 23 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
  Funeral rites will be held Sunday at 1:30 at the home of Levis Lane and thence to the Trinity Lutheran Church, Central Avenue, Alton. Burial in Oakwood Cemetery.
