James Richmond Forsyth, Jr. was born Aug. 6, 1886 at the family's home south of Longmont to J.R. and Mary J. (Beasley) Forsyth. After graduating from Longmont High School he was employed as a bookkeeper at the Farmers Mill & Elevator Company in Longmont. On July 2, 1910 he married Orpha Veneda Dean in Denver, Colorado. They made their home in Longmont, Colorado and 4 children would be born to this union. Jim and Veneda were divorced in 1931. After that he was called "Daddy Jim" by his children and grandchildren. Jim lived his entire life in the Longmont, Colorado area.

"Jim" Forsyth Taken By Death

Funeral services for James R. (Jim) Forsyth, 69, native of the section south of Longmont who died at 12:30 p.m. Friday in a hospital in Longmont, will be held Tuesday at 3 p.m. from Lewellen Funeral Home.

Rev. Donald J. Grooters will officiate. Interment will be in Burlington Cemetery, south of Longmont.

Mr. Forsyth was the son of the late J.R. Forsyth, pioneer resident of Boulder County, who settled here first in 1870. His mother, the former Mary J. Beasley, came to this section in 1863. The parents homesteaded south of Longmont in 1875, and Jim Forsyth was born there August 6, 1886.

Engaged in farming in the Longmont section for a number of years, Mr. Forsyth had been caretaker on the Empson estate, northwest of Longmont, the past 30 years. He had lived all his life in this area and for many years served on the old Burlington Cemetery board, south of Longmont.

In failing health several months, he had been hospitalized only one day. He was past president of St. Vrain Valley Pioneers Association.

Surviving relatives are three sons, J.Lee and Dean Forsyth, both of near Longmont, and Bob Forsyth of LaJunta, Colorado; one daughter, Mrs. Roy (Erma) Hervey of Denver; two sisters, Miss Bessie Forsyth of Longmont and Mrs. Ivy Cook of Palisade, Colorado; and 13 grandchildren.
